“Sylk is made from the kiwifruit vine & other quality plant extracts, plus the natural preservative of citrus seed.” That's a direct quote from the packaging. It also has no hormones, nasty chemicals, animal products or parabens. It's even vegan friendly.
Sylk is something we have used for years – I'm basically allergic to everything, so this is good for me. It is unscented and colourless (although given the ingredients, it has a really faint yellowy-green colour). The consistency is like thick water. I know that's not a terribly good description but it's the best I can think of. Rather like when you're cooking and add arrowroot to thicken a sauce.
It isn't sticky, so it's not one that you have to get up and wash off after you finish, and it doesn't make me itch as it dries afterwards. It's not the best lube to use on Dave for a handjob as it does tend to dry out after a while. It says on the bottle that you can refresh it with some water, although we just tend to use more. It is rare (but has occurred) that we've had to use more on me. It doesn't stain the sheets because it is water-based and isn't greasy. Apparently it is tasteless, but I can't vouch for that. All in all, a winner so far.
My only beef is that it tends to be on the expensive side. It comes in a 40g bottle, which varies wildly in price from place to place. In the supermarket it seems to be around $10 per bottle, but I've seen in in the local pharmacy for $20 per bottle! I tend to buy it from an on-line pharmacy which sells 6-packs for around $8 per bottle. I figure that given that my skin tolerates it with no problems, it is worth the price. Although the bottle is small-ish, it does go a fair way.
