Last in this series of lube reviews is Pink, the silicone lubricant in the Empowered Products stable.
Like the others (Pink Water, Pink Unity), this comes in a well-sealed bottle and it is enhanced with vitamin E and Aloe Vera to make it all good. As with the others, we started the test by rubbing it between our fingers - a good way of establishing how something feels initially. Then we tried it out.
I have to say this is one of the better silicone lubes that we've tried. It isn't slick enough for vigorous sex, but for a slow shag it is ideal. It feels good on both of us, and the slickness is pretty good. I did find that, like some other silicone lubes, it does tend to wick a bit. I was holding the bottle in one hand while using the other. The hand that was holding the bottle had no lube on it to start with, but I was holding the bottle at an angle. I found by the end of everything that both hands were covered in lube, instead of just one. Like the Extreme Glide Silicone Lube that is our favourite silicone thus far, it feels pretty good on the skin, so wiping the excess off with a tissue was sufficient.
This washes off pretty well with body wash and water in the shower, but having a quick wash at the basin prior to going to the gym (known as "a bird bath" in our house) wasn't enough to get it off my skin. Still, as I mentioned, it feels pretty good, so it wasn't an issue. Sex - 7/10
Our next test was the wanking test. Dave and I lubed up and got started. I tend to find silicone lubes give too much friction for any vigorous action which is why I usually prefer water based. Pink is probably the best of the silicones we have tried. It still drags a bit when things get vigorous but it's pretty good otherwise. Dave quite likes silicone lubes as wanking lube and Pink is no exception. For wanking - 6/10
Toy use was next. We lubed up my wooden dildo (this is the trouble with silicone lubes - they don't play nicely with silicone toys.. which is most of my collection. It really only leaves the wooden and glass ones and glass is really, REALLY cold at the moment). Again, Pink worked well as long as you didn't go too quickly. It is a bit thin though and tends to drip off and not stay where it's put. Toys - 5/10
Given that all our anal toys are silicone and I'm not quite ready to have Dave in there yet, we settled for a simple finger. I seem to really need a good, thick lube to cushion things during anal play so although we got the finger in there, there just wasn't enough lubrication to allow any movement. It was better for Dave but he prefers something thicker there as well. Anal - 4/10
So now we have two good silicone lubes to use, depending on our mood and what we want it for. The Pink range of products is not cheap, but they do seem to travel a long way, so it will be a while before we have to buy anything again anyway. When we do, we'll have to decide which we prefer - this or Extreme Glide Silicone Lube - the Pink is that good that we will have to make a choice. Overall we gave it 6/10.
