After our marathon effort with 2040 recently we fancied something shorter so we reached into the classics pile and found 1001 Erotic Nights Part 2: The Forbidden Tales. We reviewed A Thousand and One Erotic Nights a while ago and liked it but being a sequel we were a little dubious. And rightly so. Yes. The curse of the sequel strikes again.
Everyone knows the story of the 1001 nights - the Sultan is deceived by his wife, kills her and vows never to be deceived by a woman again. To achieve this he sleeps with a new girl each night and has her killed in the morning. This goes on until the only girls left in the kingdom are the two daughters of the Vizier - Scheherazade and her younger sister. To keep herself alive Scheherazade tells the Sultan a story which ends on a cliffhanger. He wants to know the ending so spares her until the next night. And so on for 1001 nights and about 4000 pages if you have an unabridged edition. Everyone knows the basic story. I know it, kids get it at school, you probably know it. Everyone knows it... except for the makers of 1001 Erotic nights Part 2.
After getting it so spectacularly right in the first movie, the producers of part 2 put together a tawdry collection of random sex scenes with vaguely Arabian costumes tied together with a tenuous story that had nothing at all to do with the Arabian nights.
Sultan Khan (Francois Papillon) is bored. He needs something new to excite him so the Judge (Jamie Gillis) organises a competition to find a woman who can excite the Sultan again. We see some of the initial heats - Doria (Patti Petite) whose specialty is fellatio (admirably demonstrated on a servant, Jon Martin), Ample (Buffy Davis) whose specialty is titty fucking (demonstrated on Mr Gillis) and two young girls whose act is tickling each other then having sex (Tami White and Constance Drew). That was probably the best scene of the three scenes as both girls seemed to enjoy themselves and there may have even been hints of an actual orgasm.
Cut to the finals. We have the top three trying their skill out on the Sultan himself. Lady Viviane (Keli Richards) gets the Sultan to try swinging. He watches the orgy but doesn't participate until Lady Viviane, who is already riding someone else cowgirl style, invites him into her arse. There is a vigorous DP which the Sultan enjoys... but is left feeling somewhat unfulfilled the next day. The only good part of this scene was seeing young versions of Nina Hartley, Joey Silvera and Chris Drake.
On to the next finalist - Mistress Elita (Karen Bree) and her slave, Laya (Jennifer Noxt) who get the Sultan involved with a little light bondage before the slave fucks him. The Sultan really doesn't care for the submissive scene so on to finalist 3.
Finalist 3 is Scheherazade (Kari Foxx) - the only part of the 1001 nights to make it into this film. She tells him a very disjointed story about a magic mirror before fucking him. Naturally he falls madly in love and they live happily ever after.
A Thousand and One Erotic Nights was so good and this one was so ordinary. The story was poor. The costuming was poor. The acting was awful. Even the sex was pretty uninspiring. Give it a miss.
