Way back in the dim and distant past, well, 1998 anyway, long before Tristan did the Expert Guide to Anal Pleasure for Men, there was another trailblazer in male anal pleasure. Yes, way back in 1998 Dr Carol Queen, a distinguished sexologist, made a groundbreaking film that introduced the concept of male anal pleasure, specifically the sort you get from a strap on wielded by a willing woman, into the public consciousness. That film was the legendary Bend Over Boyfriend, released through Good Vibrations (where Dr Carol still works as a sex advisor).
Prior to Bend Over Boyfriend (or BOB to its fans), the concept of a woman using a strap on dildo on a man was almost unheard of. It was seen occasionally in particularly kinky porn films but not something to be discussed in polite company. BOB changed all that, well, except for the polite company part; it's still not really dinner party conversation. Unless it's one of those dinner parties. But it did introduce the concept to a lot of people. OK, yes, butt-plugs and the like have been around for years and people did discover the strap-on thing all by themselves (like us) but since then, pegging (see it even has its own name now) has become almost mainstream.
The film opens with Dr Carol Queen and her partner (Robert Morgan) discussing the theory and practice of anal play. The discussion is frank, open and accurate. There are a few cheesy moments, they aren't the most natural of presenters and there is the occasional hesitation and stumbling over lines. We also get occasional interruptions by Miss Behavin' MD, who gives medical(ish) advice and occasional cuts to two couples who are watching the film (on VHS no less... I wonder how many young people these days would even recognise a VHS tape) and responding to it. Anal toys are displayed and explained as are various harness designs. There was also a good discussion on how and where to wear a harness (Mrs Dave even learned that she may be wearing her harness too high - it never works on her clit, but Carol definitely got her rocks off while wearing it).
Once the talk is out of the way, Carol straps up and demonstrated the techniques on Robert. He is very, very, definitely into it. He's practically begging for it and she has to keep telling him to wait while she lubes things up. Our two watching couples also start playing and various plugs, harnesses and dildos are employed. The rest of the film cuts between the three couples as the guys get well and truly pegged.
Everyone is very into it, not quite as into it as Robert, but into it nonetheless. The couples are really attractive and very hot to watch. Well, the other couples are really attractive, Carol and Robert aren't quite porn-star gorgeous, but are so enthusiastic they were hot to watch as well. The couples also aren't regular porn people. We have never heard of any of them and I suspect they were amateurs who were into pegging. They may even have been real couples. They certainly looked like it. All we know from the credits is that couple one was Laura Goodhue and Greg Heiman and couple two was Cupcake Jones and Troy.
This is a really good educational film. If we had had films like this when we were discovering pegging, it would have been so much easier. The advice is excellent, the sex is hot and really gives a sense of what pegging is all about. The only criticism I have is that the advice section was delivered all in one block and was a bit long. She could have broken it up into shorter sections interspersed with some sex, much as Tristan did in the Expert Guide.
I have to say that Tristan's Expert Guide is a better film but if you are looking into this sort of thing, watch both. BOB was truly groundbreaking in its day (not many porn films can claim that) and is still well worth a watch today.
