"Secret Garden" Female Orgasm Enhancing Cream

The next review is the "Secret Garden" Female Orgasm Enhancing Cream from Shunga Erotic Art in Canada, another surprise in the Prof's XXXmas box. We've not tried anything like this on me before (and after the disastrous experience with the Rocket Balm, not on Dave either), but in the interests of writing fresh reviews for you to enjoy, we'll try just about anything at least once.

First up the packaging on this product is simply beautiful. This isn't your standard shrink-wrapping, nor a piece of cardboard with a plastic blister glued on. As hippies, we aren't fans of over-packaging, but in this case I'll make an exception. The 30ml bottle of cream is contained in a box with a drawing of a geisha on the cover. Rather lovely and very tasteful. According to the blurb inside, "Shunga" is a work used for Japanese erotic paintings done between the 16th and 18th centuries. Appropriate then that their packaging has tasteful pictures on it. It is applied with the fingertips and massaged around the clitoris. Apparently it can affect some women immediately, but for others it can take up to three applications (being over three consecutive days) for the effects to be felt. It provides a thermal experience which can be warming or cooling or both, depending on the sensitivity level of the woman, and gives instructions on what to do if the sensation is too intense, or not strong enough.

To call it a cream is misleading. It looks like a thick lubricant, so perhaps "liquid" or "gel" would be more appropriate. According to the FAQ on the Shunga website it works because it contains two special ingredients, L-Arginine and L-Ornithine which "penetrate the tissue around the clitoris and stimulate blood circulation". According to Wikipedia, L-arginine is a naturally occurring amino acid that the body produces, but is also available in many food products and L-ornithine is a byproduct of the action of the enzyme arginase on the L-arginine, creating urea. L-arginine is apparently used in conjunction with other products to treat erectile dysfunction as well as other disorders.

So how did it go? I had to apply more to feel anything, and it feels alternately warm and cool, which is a bit weird but nice at the same time. We tried it over three nights and I have to admit that I had several large orgasms each night. To really gauge the effect in a purely clinical manner, I tried it again on a separate occasion, with no massaging, other than the initial application. The warming/cooling lasted for between 30 and 45 minutes and was actually quite pleasant, even without the accompanying massage. While the instructions say that it can take up to three applications to get the effect, I have queried it with the manufacturers and they have told me that it is fine to use on a daily basis and it can be used as a personal lubricant. Although various places carry the Shunga products (and they all look lovely) I didn't find anyone carrying this specific product. You can buy direct from the Shunga website but I don't think they ship outside mainland Canada and USA. Maybe we would need to "buddy-up" to a local retailer and ask them to import it.

Could the same effect have been obtained simply by massaging lube into me for the same time before having a fiddle? Well I don't know. That's a test for another night.
