One of my recent purchases, in the pursuit of review-fodder, was a We-Vibe II. If you've been living in a cave, or on another planet for the last few years, you may not have heard of the We-Vibe. It's a c-shaped vibe that slips inside and cups around the pubic bone to vibrate on the clit and the g-spot simultaneously, while being rogered by a penis or dildo. Now we've looked at these longingly since they came on the market a year or so ago, but the cost was, to say the least, prohibitive. That's the trouble with these high-end toys, they tend to come with a high-end price tag too.
Anyway, I managed to find one on sale (almost half the normal price) and quickly snapped it up. I excitedly unwrapped the package when it arrived and read the instructions (you know you've got a high-end sex toy when it comes with instructions). And it was packaged beautifully. It comes with a pretty purple satin pouch to keep it in and a charger to power it. The first thing we had to do was to charge it up. For 24 hours. So there was no playing the first night we had it.
Night two, we followed the instructions and started playing with it. Being the shape it is, and where it is designed for, the power switch and charging socket are both well-encased in silicone. While it protects them, it also makes them difficult to operate. Particularly with lubed hands. It has 9 modes that you cycle through with a push of the button, and wherever in the cycle you turn it off, it starts there when you turn it back on. Anyway, we tried them all and I settled for the high speed mode. I wasn't in the mood to muck around that night so the throb, wave, pulse, etc modes just irritated me. I needed to get off. The fancy modes would be nice if you wanted to take some time but I wanted to get off now. I'd start to build to a high point, then the end of the mode was reached and it started at the beginning again. While it's novel, I found the stop-start distracting.
Anyway, we got it set how I wanted it, lubed it up and gave it a go. Long-time readers (or those who have gone through the archives) will know that I am short, while Dave is tall. My bits also are short. Dave's Mistress is too long for me. I've had trouble with vibes in the past that were meant to do clit and internal stimulation simultaneously (like rabbits). To get the internal or g-spot bit right, the clit part is up in my pubes. If I've got the clit part right, then half the toy is out rather than inside me. I had hopes that the We-Vibe II would be different. Unfortunately I was not correct.
If I pushed it in to fit around my pubic bone, the g-spot part was too far inside and the clit part was sitting above my clit. So it took a bit of juggling to get it correct. We tried it in missionary position, figuring that gravity would help keep it in place. I have to be honest, the first go with it wasn't a raging success. Nor was the second. We gave it a third try, in a different position. That didn't work either. We persevered, partly because of the cost of the damn thing, but partly also because I'd read a review that said it needed time and practise to get it right. I even tried wearing it while sitting down to do the ironing (anything to make the ironing more bearable) but for me it's not the most comfortable thing in the world to sit in. We were starting to get a bit frustrated with it.
The fourth time we tried it was much better. Dave was on top, but he was kneeling between my legs, rather than lying on top of me. This changed the angle of his cock slightly and also kept his hands free so that he could make sure that the clit part was in the right place. One huge orgasm later, we were both satisfied.
I also tried this out one night for solo play - gently moving it in and out felt really good and would have brought me to orgasm if it hadn't run out of juice before I got there (note to self... make sure vibe is charged before use). The instructions say to keep it on the charger if you use it all the time. Even though it ran out while I was using it, I was pretty impressed at how long it actually held the charge for. Being in less of a hurry, the fancy modes also worked a lot better for me (though I would still need the plain old hi-speed mode to actually get off).
So there you have it; the We-Vibe II is a success after all. Try to buy it on sale if you can, definitely shop around for it, and be prepared to put some work into getting it right. If you can do all that, then it is worth it.
