A couple of months back we had our 12th wedding anniversary and with the Australian dollar at an almost record high of 89c US we decided to splash out and invest in a love swing. Now for those of you who don't know, a love swing is a series of straps and bands that allow one person to hang suspended from a hook driven into a door frame (or if you are like me and over-engineer everything, driven into a major structural beam) while the other person proceeds to pleasure them in new and interesting ways.
Naturally, the powers that control such things engineered a US credit crisis the day we placed our order, which saw the Aussie dollar sink to around 70c US thus ensuring that we paid the maximum possible for our new toy and at the same time wipe billions off the value of the Australian economy.
A couple of weeks later our 10 billion dollar love swing arrived and I have to say... it's worth it. This thing is a lot of fun. It opened up a whole bunch of positions that are either not possible or are not very comfortable for us given that I'm over a foot taller than Mrs Dave, which makes the logistics of some positions fairly challenging.
The only drawback is that it's not exactly what you would call spontaneous. Setting it up means getting it out, untangling the straps, then getting a small stepladder to reach up and hang it from the hook in the ceiling then spend a few minutes adjusting straps to the right length for the chosen position. And if you want to change positions half-way through then it's another 5 minutes or so of fiddling with straps to get things set up again.
Even with those limitations though I completely recommend it. It's great fun.
