Another wooden dildo review for you today. This time, it's a beautiful dildo from Hardwood Dildos by Hans. As you know, I've reviewed wooden dildos in the past, but I no longer had a source for them since the guy that made them no longer does, so I couldn't put in a link to anything. We noticed that "wooden dildos" consistently ranks as the most common search phrase that brings people to our site, so we thought we had better find someone that we could refer people to.
A few searches later, we had a list of likely suspects, and Hans featured high on the list. Upon viewing his website and seeing the extraordinary range of dildos that he makes, I was impressed. When we saw that each one is an individually handcrafted work of erotic art we were hooked. I just had to have one. I contacted Hans to see if he was interested in some advertising and he incredibly generously offered me a free dildo of my choice to try out and review. So full disclosure here - this is a freebie. Thank you Hans, for your generous gift.
Last week it arrived. Upon opening up the box, I discovered a beautiful deep purple velvet drawstring pouch with a cream satin ribbon as the drawstring. High class presentation right from the start. I opened up the pouch to find my gorgeous new dildo. It is made from maple wood and measures 17.5 cm (6.9 inches) long by just over 3 cm (1.25 inches) thick. It has a lovely curve on it and some ripples at the other end. I am seriously impressed with the work that has gone into this. It really is a work of art. It was a lovely piece of timber to begin with and the work that has gone into it simply makes it more beautiful. Each piece is unique, but Hans will copy a style if it has already been sold, so while it will not be identical (which, being individually handcrafted it can't be) it will be a close copy.
It's been given a thorough trying out and I have to report I have a new favourite! The curve is perfect for working on my g-spot. The ripples feel nice for mild stimulation but the curve works best for me. There are no sharp bits anywhere and as every dildo is finished off with five layers of a food-grade varnish, it has a lovely, satiny feel to it. The lube stays on it, it doesn't drip off like it can do on a high-gloss finish. It isn't a huge dildo by any means (although he does make some impressively sized ones for those that like something more substantial), but the size is really good for me and the resulting orgasms back that up. After watching me try this out, Dave suggested that if he didn't cook, I would have no further use for him. On reflection, I decided that that wasn't true, but I did have to think for a while.
These aren't the cheapest dildos you'll find, but they are so beautiful that they are worth the price. And you don't get a 30 day, money back guarantee, nor a lifetime guarantee on the finish of other toys. I've paid more than his most expensive dildo costs for vibrators, and had them burn out irretrievably after a dozen or so uses, or the shape has been a dud for my body. He can even refinish them for you if you are a little hard on them.
Hans is a true craftsman. He cares about his work and what he puts his name to. Do yourself a favour - go to Hans' site and look at all that he has to offer. You won't be disappointed.
