LAYAspot Vibrator

The next toy I want to review is the LAYAspot by the German company Fun Factory.  This company makes high-quality toys, in Germany, with amazing designs and great colours.  The quality of their toys is almost without compare.

I must admit, I haven't used this pretty little thing for a while, but I dug it out last night, and I'll be honest, I'd forgotten how nice it is. The LAYAspot is a "lay-on" vibrator which means that it gets rested on the clitoral area, rather than being in direct contact with the clit (although you can do that too).  It fits nicely in the hand and the batteries (two AAAs) are easy to insert.  It is amazing what a punch two AAA batteries can pack when in a well-designed product.

LAYAspot vibrator The LAYAspot is made of "Elastomed" (something a bit like silicone) and is really easy to clean with mild soap and warm water.  It doesn't smell of anything, doesn't upset my skin and it is durable.  It comes in whole host of pretty colours (mine is vanilla and candy violet).  It is shipped with a sample of their Bodyfluid silicone lubricant and also detailed operating instructions (in a number of languages).  Unfortunately I've lost the instructions, but hooray!  The Fun Factory have the instructions on their web site.

The cap is a bayonet style fitting which kept popping off the first time I used it but I discovered that it works much better if you use non-lubed hands to put the batteries in. Once I discovered the secret, the cap stays on now whenever I use it.  It is "splash-proof" but not water-proof, and it is designed purely for external use, so not for vaginal penetration (although just at the opening feels nice). Oh, and pressing it down on the area isn't such a good idea - although the Elastomed material feels like silicone, it isn't quite as padded, so felt a bit on the hard side.

It has 8 vibration speeds and once you have reached level 8, if you keep turning it up, it goes into its pre-programmed "pulse" modes.  It has three of these, the first being slow vibe pulses, in the second mode the pulses are shorter and faster, and the third is fast and intense pulses (actually a bit too much for me).

My only complaint about this relates to the on-off switches (or in this case, plus (+) and minus (-) buttons).  To switch it on you have to press and hold the plus button for few seconds.  A little red light inside it tells you that there's power, and you work your way up through the graduated steps in vibration.  To turn it down, you press the minus button. Fair enough so far, but where it annoyed me was that you can't just turn it off. You have to step down through all the levels (all 11 of them if you were on the maximum pulse setting) before it will finally switch off. That's a lot to manage when you have just had a big orgasm.  A dedicated off switch would be nice. Oh, and they claim the motor is quiet.  Well it is, by comparison to some things (like a jackhammer or a 747), but I found it a little bit noisy, so keep the door shut if you are using it.

Now, how does it actually perform?  It's great on its own, but as you've probably figured out, I'm a penetration gal, so I like something inside me when cumming.  It is a little too large to use comfortably with Dave inside me, so that wasn't as successful as it could have been. However, in the interests of giving it the best possible chance to perform well, I tried it out again today, this time, with just a dildo for company. I used more lube and just let it glide over the area, rather than pressing it down.  The verdict?  Fantastic!  I'll have to keep this one a bit more accessible, particularly with winter coming on.  Dave knows (to his cost) just how cold my fingers can get, so this is a great alternative.

Being a German company, the Fun Factory are very responsible with their packaging - a PET plastic blister pack, with a cardboard outer, both of which are recyclable.  They recommend rechargeable batteries (which I use).  Their toys are a little at the expensive end of the market, but given their quality and durability, I would have to say that they are worth it.

I've got another of their products, so I will get around to reviewing the second one soon.
