We have a set of anal beads to review for you guys today. For those that don't know, anal beads are basically a set of beads on a string that are designed to be inserted one at a time into the anus. The idea is that you insert them slowly during sex then pull them out during orgasm. They give a very different sensation to a plug or dildo (even a rippled one). Plugs and dildos stretch you open, stimulate your prostate (if you are of the right gender to have one) and give you a nice full feeling. If they have ridges and bumps they also stimulate the anus as they go in and out. Beads on the other hand only do the anal stimulation part. Each bead goes in with a distinct pop and once in there isn't much sensation (except if someone tugs on the string - more on that later). The anus closes up after it and holds it in there. Since you aren't stretched open, the sensation of inserting and removing the balls is pretty intense and since the beads are attached to a string, they don't get pushed right deep inside, they kind of bunch up at the entrance which is a different sensation again.
I have played around with anal beads before but never found any I am really happy with. There are two basic types - your basic hard plastic ball on a string type and the plastic knobs on a plastic wand type. These each have their problems. The ball on a string type are usually hard plastic and often have sharp edges or ridges where they were molded. The string is, well, basically string and runs through a hole in each bead. Given where these things go, I have never been convinced that this type can be cleaned properly. Each bead has two holes in it (string out and string in) and the string is, well, string and therefore porous. Due to the whole cleaning issue I have never bought this type. The other type being a more rigid plastic job are cleaner but work more like a rippled dildo than actual beads which, while nice, isn't quite the same. They also tend to have uncomfortable molding ridges and things on them which can make them quite uncomfortable. When I saw these beads from Vixen Creations, I had to have them. They seem to combine the best of both types.

These are the amazing Vixen Creations Anal Beads. They are basic balls on a string but each ball is not hard plastic but a soft silicone. They are firm but slightly squidgy which makes them very comfortable to insert. The best example I can give for the texture is a testicle. Gently squeeze a testicle (yours or someone else's) and you'll know what I mean. The balls and string are then dipped in several coats of ultra flexible silicone which means they are fully sealed (and able to be cleaned) and are as flexible as regular balls on a string. They really are masterpieces of adult engineering.
For logistical reasons (ie: there are almost no positions where Mrs Dave can reach my bum during sex due to our height difference) we tried these out during a hand job. Although they are marked as "size - large" there was no trouble at all getting them in. Inserting was very comfortable and felt great. Once in, Mrs Dave started gently tugging on the string, not enough to pull any out but just enough to make them move about inside. The sensations were unbelievable. That's something you cannot do with the knobs on a plastic wand type and after experiencing it, I will never look at that type again. The beads on a string are so much better. As things started to build up she started popping one or two beads out (there are five on the string) then popping them back in again. Wow. That was a really intense sensation. Very different to having a dildo or plug sliding in there. Eventually (well actually quite quickly) I reached the point of no return and she gently, but firmly, pulled them out. I cannot describe the sensation of anal beads being pulled out during orgasm. It's three days later and my bum is still tingling. It was fantastic!
These are a great toy. If you are into anal play at all, throw out all your other anal beads and get a set of these. Even if you aren't into anal play, give these a go. They are much more comfortable for a beginner than a plug or dildo as there is no stretching. Even Mrs Dave (who really isn't into anal play) tried them and enjoyed them. Unless you are absolutely tiny, I wouldn't bother with a small size, the large is fine even for absolute beginners.
