Met-Art

Its been too hot in Sydney over the past few weeks to watch much porn. It's too hot to even snuggle in bed, let alone have wild monkey sex. We don't need sex to get all hot and sweaty at the moment, all it takes is the effort of rolling over. Earlier in the week it was hot enough to bake bread on the back lawn. OK. Not quite, but give me some tinfoil and on the next really hot day I'll show you how I can cook an egg there. Really. No kidding. Scouts Honour.

So no porn review for you this week. I did, however, stumble across a bunch of old Met Art photos I had hanging around on the hard drive from my previous life as a photographer (I used to use them as a posing reference) so you get a review of them instead.

For those of you who don't know, Met (which started out life as Most Erotic Teens, before deciding that Met Art was slightly less tacky) is a site that specialises in erotic photos of young women. They are probably one of the best-known art-nude sites on the web and inhabit the slightly shady area between fine art photography and plain old men's magazine style nude photography. They have been around since '99 which makes them 10 years old sometime this year.

The Met photographers are some of the best-known nude photographers in the world. Pretty much anyone who is anyone in the world of nude photography has done a shoot for Met at some stage. Unless you are a fellow photographer though, you will probably never have heard of any of them. Having such good photographers though, means that pretty much everything on the site is well-produced. The lighting is good, the posing is good and the resulting photos are of a very high standard. Most of the shots I had of theirs were pretty old so I checked out their new samples as well to make sure their standards hadn't changed and I'm pleased to say that they hadn't. The new shots were still of excellent quality.

The models, as you might expect from a site that started out as Most Erotic Teens, are on the young side. I suspect most of them are young enough that, if they were American, the photos would be illegal. As they are pretty much all European (where they are more relaxed about such things) it's OK. They seem to use a lot of Eastern European models, mostly (I suspect) because after decades of Communist oppression, they are prepared to get their kit off for a couple of pairs of jeans and a handful of hard currency. They aren't as likely to ask for awkward things like expensive modelling contracts or (later in their careers) private jets and a kilo of cocaine.

The one thing I will say against them (as I say about most of these sites specialising in young models) - I find a lot of them too skinny. I don't like to see ribs (except on the BBQ). I don't like to see hip bones. I think if I saw one of these models standing naked in front of me I would be more likely to escort them to the kitchen for a hot meal, than the bedroom for some hot sex.

Aside from that small gripe (which is directed at society in general, rather than Met in particular), after 10 years in the art-nude business, they are still turning out some fine artistic nude photography and if you like that sort of thing, Met is well worth a look. It's a pay site but there are plenty of free samples and the membership is pretty reasonable (US$99/year) given they they update pretty much every day so there is always something new to look at.
